The recreational opportunities and aesthetic beauty of the Delaware River are in many ways the focal point of the community. Delaware Canal State Park includes a 60-mile trail that is perfect for hiking and biking while the river itself offers opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, tubing and swimming. Three other parks can be found throughout the Borough including Lenape Park, which was developed and opened in 2008, to become a gathering place for the community.

Many of New Hope's residents also spend their free time enjoying the visual and performing arts or discovering their own talents. The New Hope Arts Center and the Bucks County Playhouse both host a number of thematic exhibitions and theatrical productions throughout the year. The Community School of New Hope-Solebury is one of the community's best-kept secrets. It offers continuing education through creative, physical and intellectual opportunities in partnership with Bucks County Community College and the New Hope-Solebury School District.

Numerous special events and celebrations are also held throughout the year. Second Saturday events are held monthly. Galleries and antique stores stay open late offering fun, food, and art. Annual events include the Winter Festival in New Hope and neighboring Lambertville, New Jersey, The New Hope Auto Show, GLBT Pride Weekend, Savor New Hope, the Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival, and many more.
